An Introduction to my 2026 Calendar

This year my calendar includes paintings from a number of trips over the last 15 months together with memories from the past.

I am working my way through the Small Isles and have now visited Eigg, Rum and more recently, Muck. For me each island is very different in terms of colour, light, atmosphere and coastline. On the way to Muck, travelling through Glencoe I was persuaded to plunge into the fresh water pool where the three rivers meet. A fabulous refreshing experience and not as cold as I thought it would be! Having passed through Ballaulish we stayed at a beautiful spot in Appin before making our way to the Corran ferry to visit once again the stunning Sanna Bay and Ardtoe Beach before reaching Mallaig. Such a beautiful coastline with magnificent views to the Isles.

I have over recent years  been painting predominantly in oil, working outdoor as well as from sketches and photographs. My emphasis is on colour, light, mood, capturing how this connects to my feelings and to the spirit of the land and sea. There is definitely a relationship/connection between nature and my mind. You will see that my work tends to be vibrant and colourful portraying the beautiful and dramatic views of the landscape and coastline, whilst bringing out the rhythm and texture by using different techniques and brush strokes.

When the urge to paint is strong I just want to drop everything and get lost in my own world where I can observe and immerse myself within the environment.

From seascapes to pet portraits, cushions and doorknobs, ranging in acrylic, oil, watercolour and pastel.

My originals, prints and cards can be found in shops in the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, Oban Mallaig Art Gallery, Glasgow, Stirling, Harris, and the island of Iona. Having had my first solo exhibition in 2022, which was a journey up the West Coast of Scotland, I am now working on more originals, as well as many commissions.

I exhibit regularly at many arts & craft fairs, and my current schedule can be found further down on this page

In the past I have  exhibited at The Crafters annual fair, Kelso, Art @ Ancrum, 3 Harbours Art Festival, McMillan Cancers Annual Art Fair, East Linton Art Exhibition and many more events.

I have started to write a blog to keep in touch with those who are interested in my work. Please take a look at it here; I'd love to hear from you all!

"My most favourite work of art yet! Love the crashing waves and even though the location is different, it reminds me vividly of the northwest shore of Iona in a storm!"
